This is Gunship 64-14049 flying at Knob Creek machine gun shoot. She fly's with a all Vietnam aircrew. Including the first and last crew chief to fly her in Vietnam before she was permanently grounded for being shoot up to bad. Right side rear is Chick Jones, 049's first Crew chief who along with 049 was at the battle of the Ia Drang
Nov 14, 1965. All battle's are important but this battle was made famous in the move WE WERE SOLDIERS with Mel Gibson. Left side rear is 049's last crew chief Lance Hopkins who grounded her after finding a major crack in the airframe. Left front is the aircraft commander Ron Paye, Vietnam Cobra Pilot. Right front is Glen Veno, Vietnam Scout Pilot. |
